EditPlus
is a shareware ($30) text editor with a 30-day evaluation period.
Using
some free EditPlus customization files for Zillions that we have
defined, scripts will be highlighted according to the ZRF syntax,
a clipboard will be available for easy insertion of keywords into
the script, some keywords requiring string arguments will "auto-complete,"
and you'll be able to hit Ctrl-F11 to get a pick list of macro
definitions. ZSG files will also be highlighted.
To
install the customization files into your copy of EditPlus,
do the following:
- Download
ZillionsEditPlus.zip
- Unzip
the files into the EditPlus directory. (This automatically installs
the Zillions "cliptext".)
- Open
up EditPlus's Preferences dialog box using the Tools:Preferences
menu.
- For
Categories, select Settings & syntax under Files.
- Click
the Add button. A New Setting should appear in the
File types list.
- In
the Description field, type: ZRF
- In
the File extensions field, type: zrf
- For
the Syntax file field (in the Settings & syntax tab),
click the "..." button to the right. Find and
select zrf.stx. Click Open.
- For
the Auto-completion field (in the Settings & syntax
tab), click the "..." button to the right. Find
and select zrf.acp. Click Open.
- For
the Function pattern field (in the Settings & syntax
tab), type: ^\(define
- Click
OK.
In
the Syntax colors tab of the Preferences dialog you can
also customize the coloring to suit yourself. Highlight categories
include reserved keywords, parentheses, preprocessor commands,
operators & control, true/false, line commands, and quotations.
It
is possible to launch Zillions of Games directly from the Tools
menu in EditPlus. To set that up, do the following:
- Open
up EditPlus's Preferences dialog box using the Tools:Preferences
menu.
- For
Categories, select User tools under Tools.
- Click
Add Tool>> and select Program from the popup
menu
- In
the Menu text field, type: Zillions of Games
- For
the Command field, click the "..." button
to the right. Find and select Zillions.exe. Click Open.
- Click
OK.
