Football chess plays like standard western chess with a few features of American Football. The pieces move the same, but each King starts with a football. The football is the "royal" piece, not the King itself. There are two ways to win, score a touchdown by advancing your ball to the eighth rank, or checkmate ("tackle", if you will) the opponent's ballcarrier. The ball can be carried or passed. Variants are included that make the game more like football, with only one ball on the field, rather than two, thereby creating an offensive and defensive team.
