Object: Checkmate the opponent's King by attacking
it so it cannot escape. To see a description of how a piece moves
right-click on it to bring up its properties dialog. This first variant
in the set is Battlefield Chess 96 - Standard I. It uses Archers and
Catapults with standard jumping and capture capabilities.
Battlefied Chess 96 is played on a 12x8 board and includes two new pieces--Archer and Catapult.
In medieval times, waring castles were far apart and their armies had to travel
long distances to arrive at the opposing castle. Then they had to fight from a
battlefield to enter the opposing castle. They could not defend their own castle
while in the opposing castle. Thus Battlefield Chess only allows the pieces to
enter the opponents castle (the starting area of the pieces behind the purple lines)
from the battlefield. The area between the purple lines (i.e., the four rows between
the Pawns) is the battlefield. |
