I have spent two years working on DIAMOND CHESS 306, a large chess variant inspired by Tony Paletta's PARACHESS and Fergus Duniho's ASSIMILATION FUSION CHESS. The game is played on a board of 306 tessalating diamonds (rhombuses). Pieces may merge with friendly pieces or captured enemy pieces; such compound pieces can also be disassembled into their components.
