Naos : the inner portion of a Greek temple, enclosed within walls and
generally surrounded by colonnaded porticoes. In it stood the statue of the deity
to whom the temple was consecrated. Naos was also the name of the block where
the statue of the god was erected.
Goal of the game: Occupy the enemy noas square or eliminate all enemy pieces.
Pieces have a move of either one or two depending on their adjacency to other
friendly pieces. Adjacent enemy pieces are not counted. Adjacency means in all eight
directions. A friendly piece may move onto the naos it is defending.
Move of 1: A piece with no adjacent friendly pieces has a move of 1 in any direction. It is known
as a Single.
A piece that is part of a chain or group of three or more adjacent
friendly pieces has a move of 1 in any direction.
Move of 2: A piece that is part of a friendly pair has a move of exactly 2. These pieces are
called Twins. The move is a straight line move in any direction. Jumping is not allowed.
Capturing: Capture is by replacement. Capturing is not obligatory. |
